Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how OpenSubs (“OpenSubs,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit www.opensubs.com (the “Site”). It covers the marketing website only. If you run an OpenSubs instance on your own infrastructure, that product is governed by your license and your own privacy practices, not this policy.

By using the Site, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. Related rules for using the Site are in our Terms of Use.

Information we collect

We collect information in three ways:

  • You give it to us. When you book a demo or otherwise contact us, we collect what you submit, typically name, email, company, and the contents of your message. Demo requests currently go through Typeform.
  • It is collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our hosting provider collect technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps. This happens through server logs and similar technologies.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar tools to operate the Site, remember preferences, measure how the Site is used, and support third-party services we embed (for example fonts and the demo form). You may control cookies in your browser; blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site
  • Respond to demo requests, sales questions, and other inquiries
  • Send follow-up communications you request or that relate to a request you made
  • Understand Site traffic and performance
  • Detect, prevent, and address security or abuse issues
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use

Cookies

We have the right to use cookies and similar technologies as described above. Some cookies are set by us; others are set by companies that help us run the Site. Categories typically include:

  • Essential: needed for the Site to function (for example security and load balancing).
  • Preferences and performance: help us understand visits and keep the Site working well.
  • Third-party: set when you use an embedded service, such as opening the Book a Demo form.

We do not currently run a separate cookie-consent banner. Browser controls remain available to you at all times.

How we share information

We share information with service providers who process it for us, under instructions, to run the Site. That currently includes:

We may also share information if required by law, to protect OpenSubs or others, in connection with a merger or sale of assets, or with your direction.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are used under California law.

Retention

We keep information as long as needed for the purposes above, to maintain business records, and as required by law. Demo-form and email correspondence is typically kept while a conversation is active and for a reasonable period afterward. Server logs are kept for a shorter operational window.

Your choices and rights

You can decline to submit a form, request that we delete information you sent us, and control cookies in your browser. Depending on where you live (including California, the EEA, and the UK), you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email enterprise@opensubs.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling it.

International visitors

The Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate, which may have different data protection rules than your home country.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
